Forest Hill

The clients of this 1930’s house in Forest Hill, London needed an extra bedroom and bathroom to accommodate their growing family, plus some renovations to the living and dining areas of their house. Access to the attic was by a ladder and the challenge was to create a new staircase without using up too much of the existing floor space. archipeleco designed a compact and lightweight stair within a new roof extension, using an alternating tread stair with timber details to match the existing stairs. The new bedroom has generous amounts of daylight provided by a large rear dormer window and rooflights, together with an en suite bathroom and plenty of storage. The kitchen and dining room were redesigned together with the addition of a large south facing deck making this house really delightful to live in.
