Gambia

archipeleco was commissioned to produce schematic designs for an eco-tourism centre in The Gambia, West Africa. The clients (teachers from the UK and The Gambia) had purchased a large plot of land and planned to build a centre with accommodation, visitors centre, restaurant, theatre, workshops and a library. The design combined the use of local materials such as thatch roofs and earth rendering with modern technology such as solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems.
