In 1999, archipeleco was formed, synthesising the two aspects of Lucy's experience, that of architecture and the environment. Prior to forming the practice, Lucy worked for 13 years as an architect in both in the UK and USA. During this time, Lucy acquired a thorough knowledge of the construction process, working on projects ranging from individual houses through to large scale commercial developments.

In 1995 she joined Construction Resources, the UK's first Environmental Building Centre. The company was then in its infancy and between 1995 and 1998, Lucy worked as a core member of staff assisting in the creation of the business structure and working practices of the Centre. Construction Resources opened to the public in 1998 and Lucy's main role was to research the environmental impact of building materials, both conventional and alternative and to develop a product range of the best ecological materials available. She also advised architects and other professionals on the selection of ecologically sound building materials and systems. Additionally, Lucy ran the seminar programme at Construction Resources and presented numerous seminars herself. For further information on the range of seminars and presentations available, please visit the Services section.

From 1998-2002, Lucy was on the Association for Environment Conscious Building (AECB) Committee and continues to support the organisation as a member.
