Holyoke Center

Whilst living in the United States, Lucy had the opportunity of working on an exciting urban renewal scheme in the heart of Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Holyoke Center was designed by Louis Sert in 1961 and is a landmark building in Cambridge. Despite several attempts at rejuvenation, the centre’s ground floor fell into disrepair and when Lucy joined the architectural practice of Prellwitz Chilinski, she became intimately involved in a very successful renovation of the retail spaces of Holyoke Center. Lucy was involved in the design of several of the shops and restaurants in the Centre and both visitors and residents of Harvard Square now enjoy this vibrant and centrally located retail space.
